Phase field modeling of electrochemistry. I. Equilibrium.
A diffuse interface (phase field) model for an electrochemical system is developed. We describe the minimal set of components needed to model an electrochemical interface and present a variational derivation of the governing equations. With a simple set of assumptions: mass and volume constraints, Poisson's equation, ideal solution thermodynamics in the bulk, and a simple description of the com...
متن کاملPhase-field modeling of corrosion kinetics under dual-oxidants
A phase-field model is proposed to simulate corrosion kinetics under a dualoxidant atmosphere. It will be demonstrated that the model can be applied to simulate corrosion kinetics under oxidation, sulfidation and simultaneous oxidation/sulfidation processes. Phase-dependent diffusivities are incorporated in a natural manner and allow more realistic modeling as the diffusivities usually differ b...

Experimental modeling of the adsorption kinetics of Cd (II) and Pb (II) ions by Calix [4] arene surface
The removal of Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions from wastewater using p-tert-butyl-calix[4] arene was investigated in terms of initial pH, initial concentration, adsorbent dosage, contact time and temperature. The maximum adsorption occurred at the pH value of 6. The adsorbent studied exhibits high efficiency for Cd (II)and Pb (II) adsorption and the equilibrium states could be achieved in 10 min. Adsorption...
متن کاملPhase field modeling of defects and deformation
New perspectives on the phase field approach in modeling deformation and fracture at the fundamental defect level are reviewed. When applied at sub-angstrom length scales the phase field crystal (PFC) model is able to describe thermally averaged atomic configurations of defects and defect processes on diffusional timescales. When applied at individual defect levels the microscopic phase field (...
